Have your cake!
Doesn't looking at that cake just make you drool?
Cake is amazing and often calls for a special occasion but it doesn't have to be. You can have it all, everyday! You might not like the pounds it adds on to you, but I guess what we're saying is that life is short, why not?
A good friend of mine who loves the holidays, shared with me that he was beyond excited about Thanksgiving because its the one time his entire family is able to get together. He described the feast as always amazing and plentiful. As I heard him describe his family and all the wonderful dishes they had planned to prepare, I mentioned to him, "Well, it seems as if Thanksgiving is your favorite day of the year and you hold it in your heart so fondly, why not have Thanksgiving monthly, or at the very least more frequently such as twice a year or every quarter?" He looked at me like I had two heads and quickly responded with "But then it wouldn't be special."
I get his logic but I also disagree. Yes, there is something magical about having family over for one gigantic "eat until your stretchy pants bust the seams" and I know its sometimes rather difficult to gather so many family members in one place with everyone's busy schedule -- but, why not make it a priority?
We can replicate special moments and have the same desired effect. Moments are precious, especially with family. We only get so many in our lifetime, make it count.
During David and I's first year married, we celebrated every month. It got to be a bit excessive but it sure did beat celebrating our love only once a year. While we didn't have cake every month, we took time to pause and recognize our love for one another in various meaningful ways.
In short, have your cake, at each and every milestone! Meanwhile, let us help you with your credit card processing!
Cheers!
