I love to plan. David, not so much. He knows planning is important but he'd rather just go with the flow and adjust in the moment. I'm more manic. I've got lists, new lists, a calendar scribbled with notes and post it's all over the office and home. I just love a good blueprint of the day :) Who's with me??
With that being said, how are you prepared for tomorrow, for what's to come? We aren't one to panic most times but we are sensible in the fact that what you sow today, you will reap later. In our home, we've made a point to be sure we have all of the typical necessities of extra candles, flashlights, thick blankets in case the heating goes out, a supply of non-perishable foods (especially an abundance of snacks!), fully charged battery packs, ample toilet paper stash, the list goes on and on and on.
There are so many things to consider in addition to so many situations you can never plan for. On a business standpoint, the best thing you can do is ensure your business is not only compliant but have taken measures to be sure you are disaster preparedness full-proof. Are you ready?
Some thoughts to ponder:
- Do you have a 5 or 10 year plan in place?
- Who is your right hand man/woman. If something happened to you, does someone know what to do, and has access to all tools the business needs?
- Insert your content here[/idea]Do you have the proper insurance for your business, your workers, etc?
- For some businesses, do you have a generator if the power goes out?
- Do you have estate planning ready? Who will pick up your business in the event of your untimely death?
David and I think about this all the time. We use CRM's instead of Excel documents, we have several business plans in play and many other contingency plans. Exciting stuff, right? ;)
Cheers!
